The Sh$tty Man United

man u

The Shitty Man United went to Rome to see the Pope, The Shitty Man United when to Rome to see the Pope, The Shitty Man United when to Rome to see the Pope, and this is what he said….FUCK OFF!

In cause you couldn’t tell from this little Liverpool F.C song, I hate Man U, as with most English Premier League Fans. So to see United struggle under unfortunate manager David Moyes last season was absolutely fantastic. To see the 13-time Premier League champions, their first year without legendary manager Sir Alex Ferguson finish in a dismal 7th in the Premier League table was a true delight. This off season brought much optimism for Man U fans with the hiring of Dutch international coach Louis Van Gaal and the signings of Luke Shaw (and more recently Angel Di Maria). However, with a loss and draw to Swansea City and Sunderland respectively to open the season, United fans are quickly tucking their heads between their legs and running for the hills looking for a scapegoat. Once again, United supporters are turning to their coach, two games into his BPL career as the scapegoat to all of United’s problems. With experts predicting a return to UCL football this year, United supporters are quick to throw out accusations for their team’s early woes.

Well United fans, here’s a little information that you might want to listen to…..

Your problem is NOT the coach. Your team is just not that good.

Frankly speaking, David Moyes was not the problem either last year. His downfall came from his inability to deal with the pressure surrounding him by the media and fans following the departure of Sir Alex. David Moyes was a good coach, Louis Van Gaal is a good coach, however, there is only so much a coach can do and the players need to be held accountable.

Below is a comparison of starting XI (not including injuries) by the predicted top 5 teams this Premier League season: Chelsea, Man City, Arsenal, Liverpool, and Man United.

Position      Cheslea         Man City            Arsenal                Liverpool           Man United

Keeper       Cech                Hart                Szczesny                Mignolet                 de Gea

Fullback  Azpilicueta     Sagna               Debuchy                  Lovren                Jones

Fullback    Terry           Kompany           Chambers                Skrtel                   Shaw

Fullback   Cahill           Mangala           Koscielny                 Moreno                Carrick

Fullback   Luis              Clichy                   Gibbs                   Johnson                 Evans

Mid       Nemanja        Fernando             Areta                 Henderson               Young

Mid     Fabregas          Toure                  Ramsey                 Gerrard                  Fletcher

Mid      Hazard            Silva                    Cazorla                  Lallana                    Mata

Mid      Willian           Navas        Oxlade-Chamberlain     Sterling                 Di Maria

Fwd      Oscar             Jovetic                 Sanchez                  Sturridge               Rooney

Fwd      Costa             Aguero                 Giroud                   Balotelli                Van Persie

Obviously United has the big names in Rooney, Van Persie, Di Maria, and to an extent de Gea. However, the talent outside of those four players drops significantly compared to everyone else, especially in the midfield. Juan Mata has not turned out the way United hoped when they snagged him during the Winter transfer season from Chelsea, and with Adnan Januzaj still maturing as a player, their depth is extremely weak. Outside of Phil Jones and Luke Shaw, their defense is also pretty pathetic, especially compared to that of Cheslea or Man City. While United may posess a strong attacking force, they lack possession control, position awareness and depth on the defensive side of their game.

Going back to United’s strength of Van Perise and Rooney on the offensive side of the ball, it is easily countered by all of the other four teams, especially now with Liverpool’s new signing of Mario Balotelli to compliment Daniel Sturridge. Frankly Van Persie, while still recooperating from a long world cup and coming off injury last year, he is not yet back to his old self, and when your competition boasts young talent to counter his position in Diego Costa (age 25), Sergio Aguero (age 26), Olivier Giroud (age 27) and Mario Balotelli (age 24), the 31 year old Van Perise has some steep competition.

Man United did get better this off season, especially with the ridiculous amount they spent on Angel Di Maria, however their competition all got better then they did. Liverpool lost Luis Suarez, but received Mario balotelli and Adam Lallana among other players, Arsenal grabbed Alexis Sanchez, Man City managed to re-sign Serigo Aguero and probably the biggest signing was the addition of Diego Costa by Chelsea. Man United is NOT a top 4 team in the Premier League and you certainly can blame Louis Van Gaal for this, but you would be grossly incorrect. The team is just not up to snuff yet. They lack defensive depth and possession skill, and whatever reserves they do have are too young to have developed into talent that you can see regularly on the pitch. Don’t expect too much Man United fans, you will get Europa League action, but once again miss out on Champions League.
